Hi Everyone,
In an attempt to explain AVS's and to help webmasters effectively market and
make money promoting them, I am putting together a little tutorial to assist you in getting through the massive amounts of information that is currently out there.
The term AVS, is now by now a misnomer, and in sites like ours, is not even allowed. The original use stands for AGE VERIFICATION SYSTEM, and is not
accurate if the age verification is done simply by the surfer having a credit card. Visa and MasterCard are completely against anyone inferring that by using a
credit card you are proving that the surfer is over 18.
While the term AVS still lingers, and no new name has been coined, I will continue to use it simply for lack of
confusion. The definition I will use is any system that allows a surfer to purchase a site, and receive hundreds or thousands of other galleries in addition.
There are quite a few of these systems out there, some of which are free, and some of which are paysites.
The free avs models make their revenue by offering a huge collection of galleries, and will offer a free trial to another
site. If the surfer cancels the trial to the paysite, they still have free access to the original avs.
The pay avs models make their money on the sales of the site, and the recurring billing.
A good free model will convert about 1/75 and a good pay avs should convert about 1/200. Both offer payouts
ranging from about $15 to $39 per join. For this reason, the avs models are terrific money makers for just about any type of site.
If you understand this next sentence, you can make a lot of money! The
average surfer buys between 3-7 sites a month and spends about $100.00. So even though you have a surfer that
has purchased your site, you can still make even more money directing them to additional sites.
More importantly, since you have traffic, and 90% or more of it doesn't purchase your site, directing them to a site
they will buy is critical to your profit margin. That is why I like both free models and pay models. I would put both
models up and let the surfer decide which model is right for them. Now, let's get to the heart of the matter, how to convert the surfer to buy!
CONVERSIONS
In order to convert the surfer, you have to understand that you can't possibly please them all, but if you can please a
small percentage, you can make money. For this reason, avs models work well, simply by promoting to them that
not only does the surfer get your site, and the content you promised, but the surfer additionally will receive access
to 1000's of other galleries designed by webmasters from all over the world.
Since there is so much content in the larger avs models, you don't have to provide all things, so it is actually better
to promote the smaller niches, the harder to find content, or the things that are really unique. That said, the next
thing to remember is that more personal the site is, the better it will convert. ( example, talk about a specific model
in first person with the invitation to "come see me inside") Remember: "You are promoting a fantasy not just nudity."
Each company has their own rules. They also have someone on hand, who by icq, email, or toll free number can
help you. The best hint I can give you is to contact them and let them help you with the system they know best.
This is their job, and they will take the time to assist you in sending them traffic. Ask them for hints, reviews, rules, and ways to help the process of signing up easy.
Questions to ask the specific company you want to send traffic to:
1. What are the site requirements for the number of pictures, or the amount of time
needed for videos.
2. How many banners can be placed in the site to promote your sites to their members?
3. Will you be placed on their link list, if so how soon?
4. What are the payouts, how often are they sent, and what are the minimums?
5. What are their rules regarding mailings, promotions, opt in lists, etc.?
6. Who can help you get the site set up, and what kind of webmaster support do they have?
The company's answers to these questions will help you determine who will work with you best for site needs. Also
understand that you can work with a number of companies at once, you don't need to be pinned down to just one.
If you think marketing adult sites is easy and fun, imagine how much easier it is to market a site that is created by 1000's of webmasters.
